The small Eastern Washington town of Walla Walla has approximately 32,000 residents and is home to over 100 of the finest wineries in the country, an award winning downtown area, and affordable homes, with the average home price at approximately $170,000.

There are many cultural opportunities in Walla Walla, such as touring the Whitman College Outdoor Sculpture Walk, visiting the Kirkman House Museum, or enjoying a performance by the Walla Walla Symphony which features many internationally acclaimed artists. Walla Walla also offers plenty of unique dining experiences with a wide array of area restaurants.

Walla Walla Retirement:

Walla Walla is one of the best small towns to retire to and has become a popular destination for retirees. Although we are not aware of any retirement communities in the area, Walla Walla is sure to have some great retirement homes.

Over the last two decades there has been an explosion in Walla Walla's wine industry, and visitors are taking advantage of some of the best Washington State vintages located here. The first full weekend of December is famous for the Holiday Barrel Tasting, where all new vintages of wine are “popped” for the first time, and there are plenty of activities to keep the whole family entertained.

The Valley has also become the home to several annual music festivals. The two- week Chamber Music Festival fills Walla Walla with wonderful sounds through a variety of venues: open rehearsals, free public concerts, scenic wine tasting rooms, special events and traditional music hall concerts. The June event is now a Walla Walla tradition.

Things to do in Walla Walla:

The choices for outdoor adventures include fishing, hunting, hiking, horseback riding, boating, canoeing, and camping. For the young and the young at heart, there’s BMX racing, disc golf, and skateboarding at Fort Walla Walla Park. And the fun extends throughout the winter, too, with downhill and cross-country skiing, snowboarding, and snowmobiling.
