Bluffton is a lowcountry town in Beaufort County, SC. Lowcountry is a geographic and cultural region located along South Carolina's coast renowned for its historic cities and communities. As designated by the U.S. Census Bureau, Bluffton is included within the Hilton Head Island–Beaufort Micropolitan Statistical Area. As of the census of 2000, there were 1,275 people, 465 households, and 341 families residing in the town. The population density was 37.5 people per square mile. There were 501 housing units at an average density of 14.7/sq mi. The median income for a household in the town was $43,281, and the median income for a family was $48,611. The per capita income for the town was $17,327. The population was 12,530 at the 2010 census.

Hilton Head is a Lowcountry resort town located on Hilton Head Island in Beaufort County, SC. The island features 12 miles of beachfront on the Atlantic Ocean. The year-round population was 37,099 at the 2010 census, during the peak of summer vacation season the population can reach 275,000. As of the census of 2000, there were 33,862 people, 14,408 households, and 9,898 families residing in the town, on a land area of 42.06 square miles. The Hilton Head Island-Beaufort Micropolitan Area, which includes Beaufort and Jasper counties, had a 2005 estimated year-round population of 159,247. The median income for a household in the town was $60,438, and the median income for a family was $71,211. The per capita income for the town was $36,621.


The University of South Carolina Beaufort's new Gateway campus and the Technical College of the Lowcountry's New River campus are located along the U.S. Highway 278 corridor, halfway between Bluffton and Hardeeville in the Sun City vicinity. Information from Wikipedia.

Bluffton-Hilton Head Attractions:

The annual Historic Bluffton Arts and Seafood Festival held in late October week long event offering a myriad of activities, showcasing the locally harvested seafood, delicious Low Country cuisine, rich history, culture and art of the area and Southern hospitality found only in Bluffton. The highlight of the festival is the Streetfest featuring over 90 artists displaying and selling their art with food provided by the area's premier restaurants and caterers and great music and entertainment.

The Heyward House Historic Center is a museum and welcome center located in the heart of Bluffton’s National Register Historic District at 70 Boundary Street. The Heyward House is open to the public and offers docent guided tours Monday-Friday, 10 am to 3 pm.

Farmers Market of Bluffton is located in historic downtown Bluffton along Calhoun and Lawrence Streets and through Carson Cottages, this family friendly market is open seasonally and showcases local growers, local food vendors, local entertainment, local community causes and local information about the Bluffton area.
