We have noticed that the best retirement communities are located in small towns. We hear all the talk about retiring to the city but the best retirements are definitely located in small towns. Why is that?
Well people want to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of city and suburban living especially traffic and noise. When you move to a retirement communities you may want to explore and enjoy the surrounding areas especially natural areas to enjoy things like lakes for fishing, hiking trials, small town shopping, arts and crafts fairs, mountains, wineries and day trips to other small towns. Can’t do these things living in a retirement community in a city.
Also there is something about enjoying the character of small town living while having the advantages of living in a great retirement community too. Best of both worlds. Small towns have parade, arts, community theaters, footballs games, and a real community spirit that you may not find in a city or even the suburbs.
These days with Internet shopping and two day delivery by Amazon you can order just about anything you want and have in delivered to your home. The Internet also levels the field with news and keeping in touch no matter where you live. Place is not as important anymore.
The people who move to a retirement community in a small town are genuinely excited about the new lifestyle. Sometimes people moving to a retirement community in their neighborhood or a city to be close to their relatives are not as excited about the retirement lifestyle.
