My husband and I are reaching retirement age and have been giving a lot of thought to moving to a smaller community from our present home in metro Atlanta. We have visited and rented a home for the weekend in Big Canoe and Bent Tree located close to Jasper, GA. We found both mountain escapes to have great amenities and offer a variety of affordable homes to million dollar homes. There is lot of wildlife in the area and offers great mountain and lake views. The only drawback I noticed was the lack of restaurants and the more popular grocery stores I'm used to living in Atlanta. I really enjoy cooking and want to be able to obtain many of the gourmet items without having to drive a great distance.
