We love our Myrtle Beach, but plan on moving north where both our families are located near Allentown, Pa and Long Island NY. We are very confused as property taxes seem very high in Pa, and we have yet to locate a community that has good medical, and reasonable price homes. We are very active and want to be near night life, with things to do all year long. Any suggestions??

Thanks

Fayette County PA - A great place to visit - A great place to retire.
Fayette County is located in Southwestern Pennsylvania and borders West Virginia and Maryland. The area offers many outdoor activities including biking, hiking, snow skiing, fishing, boating, hunting, kayaking and has some of the best whitewater rafting areas on the east coast.

There are miles of State Forests and Parks and the mountains of Fayette County offer the most spectacular fall beauty. Wildlife is abundant in the mountain areas and you won't be suprised to see a deer, bear or wild turkey while driving through. Ohiopyle State Park offers over 28 miles of hiking and biking trails along the Youghiogheny River Trail. Ohiopyle was voted the #4 best place to build a log home by Log Home Living Magazine! Visit www.DiscoverOhiopyle to see photos and more info on the Ohiopyle area.

History buffs will love the area! Some of the landmarks you won't want to miss are the George C Marshall Memorial Plaza, Fort Necessity, French and Indian War sites, Jumonville Glen, Wharton Furnace, Friendship Hill, Searights Tollhouse and the many mansions in Uniontown that were originally built by Coal Barons. In addition, there are two homes designed by renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright, Fallingwater and Kentuck Knob which are within a short drive of each other.

Golf enthusiasts have many choices including Nemacolin Woodlands Resort which recieved a 4.5 star rating from Golf Digest magazine for Best Places to Play and where the PGA Tour - 84 Lumber Classic was held in past years.

Ski Resorts that are in or near Fayette County include Seven Springs, Mystic Mountain, Hidden Valley, The Springs and Wisp.

Uniontown PA is the County Seat of Fayette County. Downtown Uniontown has been revitalized and has many new shops and weekly events. Be sure to visit www.UniontownOnline.com to find more details about area events, restaurants, shopping, flea markets, auctions and more!

There is something for everyone in Fayette County, PA!
