Oregon Places To Retire To
You hear a lot of California folks like to move to Oregon. So do others. The Pacific Northwest has a lot to offer. Oregon offers a lot of varied choices.
Let us know of Oregon places that would be good to retire to. Please post a description here so we will all know about it.
Have you retired to Oregon? Tell us about it. The more descriptive the better but even just a name will help and we can look in to more details. What do you like about it?
I have lived in Sweet Home, Oregon for 14 years now and find it a
wonderful community for retirement living. Housing is still on the
affordable side, a home can be had for $100,000 that is quite liveable.
There are a number of older homes that can be refurbished or you can buy
new homes in a large number of tracts. We have a bus that goes to Albany
where there are a variety of stores and health facilities. The bus travels
on a regular schedule and is very affordable. The roads between Sweet Home and
large cities (Eugene and Salem) are four lane and/or freeway. Sweet Home itself
has two grocery stores with good prices, an excellent medical clinic and several
dentists. There is a good quality fitness center with 24 hour access. We also
have an active Senior Center, a public access swimming pool and community college
center all offering classes for adults. It’s beautiful here, green all year, very
little cold or snow but substantial rain. A lake is a few short miles away. You
can ride a bicycle to the lake and BBQ or fish on the beach! More bike lanes are going
in on the roadways and it’s an uncommon day when you go to town without seeing people
either on bicycles or mobility scooters. Quiet, friendly and affordable. I would
recommend checking out Sweet Home.
