Located on the shores of Bellingham Bay set against Mount Baker in Western Washington, Bellingham serves as the county seat of Whatcom County with a population of approximately 80,000. Bellingham is home to Western Washington University and offers superior medical care at St. Joseph Medical Center.

Bellingham was voted by Money Magazine as one of the best retirement cities in the country due it's picturesque location and rich variety of recreational, cultural, educational and economic activities.

Bellingham is considered to be one of the best small towns to retire in. Although we are not aware of any retirement communities in the area, Bellingham is sure to have some great retirement homes.

Bellingham, Washington is approximately 90 miles north of Seattle, Washington, 21 miles south of the Canadian border and around 52 miles south of Vancouver, B.C. The City encompasses about 28 square miles. North Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands are located to the west. The snow-capped Mount Baker and the North Cascade mountains are located to the east.
