Town: Canton GA is seat of Cherokee County Georgia and is becoming a hot spot of sorts for 55 plus communities. It is located off Hwy 575 which is an easy trip up from Woodstock and Marietta area of Atlanta. Also from Canton you can take Hwy 140 over to Alpharetta and North Fulton County in about 20 minitues.

I just took a driving tour around the Canton area and saw maybe 12 to 15 new active adult communities. I didn't know that many communities that appeal to us 55+ had sprung up in the area.

Mountain View is located off Hwy 140 East of Canton. Several builders in the community. Price ranges in the low $200s to $300,000. RL Glosson Homes 678-493-0696 is one of the builders. There are two section Autumn Ridge at the top with wonderful mountain views and Creekside. Mountain View is located on the top of a high ridge with wonderful mountain vistas. See photo below for a photo I took from the restaurant at the entrance. In my ride around the area I saw many communities but this was the most attractive to what I would like as a retirement home. It offers lots of features that are attractive to 55 plus adults but is not solely 55+. Homes are attractive and varied in looks. Energy efficient and great floor plans.

Homes in Mountain View Subdivision are very suitable to retirees with ranches and masters on the mail level. Many homes have basements. It is a mix of retirees and young couples.

Below is the Winchester Grill (Woodfire Grill) located at the entrance to Mountain View Subdivision. It serves lunch and dinner. Very nice!

On the West side of Canton there is the new Seasons at Laurel Canyon by Levitt & Sons who now builts 55 plus communities. There have three communities in the Atlanta area. This is the one in Cherokee county. An Active Adult Community with single family homes in the price range $228,990 - $355,490 with square footage in the ranges 1,518 - 2,996. Nice large club house that will be the center of many activities. Drive up and see their 9 model homes and I think you will be impressed.

Also in the Hwy 140 area is the adjoining area of Holly Springs. Here a large community by the name Harmony on the Lakes Subdivision. There are several sections and several builders with homes from $200,000 up to homes on the lake at $600,000 plus. Communities have clubhouses, fitness center, schools, shopping, and more.
